New Chinese Reformed Christian bookstore
New Chinese Reformed Christian bookstore
Monergism is delighted to announce the completion of a major online project developed for the edification of the Chinese Christian community: Sinimbooks.com. We now carry Christian titles that are Chinese, Reformed and Christ-honoring.
Why call it Sinimbooks? ... "Sinim" is a word that comes from the Bible in Isaiah 49:12:
"Behold, these will come from afar;
And lo, these will come from the north and from the west,
And these from the land of Sinim."
In context, this verse speaks of the gathering of true Israel from all parts of the world (43:5,6), even far away places like Sinim, which many scholars say is an ancient name for China. God has particularly placed in our hearts a deep affection for the Chinese people and so we wish to make available the most edifying Christian literature to our Chinese brothers and sisters in Christ; literature we pray will build up the saints and spread the fame of Christ's name far and wide. We currently carry about 50 Christ-exalting Chinese titles in our Monergism Books' warehouse and hope to grow the list over time. Thanks for your continued support. Be sure to tell all you Chinese Christian friends.

This looks like a great resource! Are all the titles in traditional characters or do you carry simplified as well?

HI Andrew
Thanks for your comment. At the current time, the titles are mostly have "fantizi" or traditional characters. As time goes on we would like to have both. But a large percentage of mainland Chinese can still read both.

Do you plan for Mainland Chinese to purchase these books directly from America? Or do you have a location in China where they can be purchased? Are there any customs or security restrictions that you know of shipping materials into the country like this? Have you considered making any of these books available as online books that are downloadable?

Hi Mark
1) We are just starting out but anyone can purchase these books in our State-side warehouse from any country. The next phase of the plan, if it goes well, would be to open other offices. These plans are in the works.
2) As for closed countries, there are indeeed currently some restrictions.
3) Many of these books AND MORE are available online for free and have been for a long time. I previously developed another website called
http://www.chinachristianbooks.org where Chinese can download lots of Reformed Christian material for free.

hi, new to your site. Love what you are doing. may I have a list of your simplified Chinese books?

I 'm doing some work in China. They NEED simplified Chinese works. Sure SOME could read traditional characters, but the MAJORITY need simplified Chinese character works.
If you want to reach the masses start praying for works translated to simplify Chinese characters! Here's how it works:
1 (older folks) Understand it
2 (SOME newer generations) can GUESS the words by it's context
3 (the next NEW generation) have no clue!
Question; would you want to read and study a theological book and TRY to understand it by guessing words? You want to stay focus on the theological topic! So lets quit playing games and say things like 'They don't have a problem understanding traditional characters'. I agree,IF the context are the MINORITY of the Chinese Christians and unsaved!
