Free Online Study Bible Resource
The Holman Christian Standard Study Bible is now available as an online resource for free. Though I am a novice in terms of using the HCSB, one noticeable and remarkable feature is that if you scroll your mouse over the words in the biblical text, you can see the Hebrew and Greek words and definitions and other important information about where else you will find that word in the Bible. This website is definitely something to bookmark and use, found here. (Since posting this, John Hendryx made a very good observation in the comment section below. I would agree and although I would still recommend the useful Hebrew and Greek word feature of the site, would caution discernment concerning the study notes). - JS

While you may benefit from the notes in this Bible, I must preface it with a warning. Check out inconsistency on the study notes of John 6:37. It reads:
Verse 37 is one of the key verses in Scripture on the issue of election. It demonstrates both election and free-will in the same verse. The Father literally gives certain believers to the Son. On the other hand, the gospel always proclaims, "Whosoever will may come." Does God choose us or do we choose him? The only possible answer is, "Yes." These two strands run side by side like two lanes of a super highway throughout the Scriptures.

I agree with John H. The Greek/Hebrew aspect of it is wonderful, however, the HCSB isn't my favorite translation.

I would agree. Its something to have available as a resource but use with discernment. I much prefer the ESV Study Bible myself.

I agree with the fellas above, the HCSB is not a translation that I use with any amount of regularity, discernment is needed when using online resources and I prefer the ESV Study Bible; but I did check John 6:37 in the HCSB online study notes and....... without permission to cut and paste, I can say that I see election and perseverance spoken of, nothing on the whosoever may come or "super highway" themes.
humbly,
Cam

I'm not trying to turn this into a discussion of translation vs. translation, so my apologies if that's what it seems like I'm doing. While I won't necessarily be using the notes of the HCSB Study Bible, I have turned to the translation itself much more frequently in recent months. I've come to prefer its accuracy in many instances over the ESV (which I also still use frequently). In fact, I wouldn't say that either is the "one" I use; I use both of them pretty much equally. I do realize I'm in the minority of Reformed HCSB users out there, but there are a few of us. :-)
