"...if anyone makes the assistance of grace depend on the humility or obedience of man and does not agree that it is a gift of grace itself that we are obedient and humble, he contradicts the Apostle who says, "What have you that you did not receive?" (1 Cor. 4:7), and, "But by the grace of God I am what I am" (1 Cor. 15:10). (Council of Orange: Canon 6)

Messianic Jews in Israel

One of the things i don't like regarding Messianic Jews is that they want to keep separate from "Christians." They do not want to be considered the same as Gentile Christians so they disdain the term Christian. (Rom 10:12)

i am sorry, but i just dont agree that messianics dont want to associate with "christians". i know quite a few fellow believers who are jewish, including "messianic jews" who are very accepting and participate with the rest of the Body.

as far as the term "christian", notice it was a label given the church in antioch. it wasnt something that early "christians" like paul, peter, james, john, etc, etc, called themselves. instead, they called themselves "followers of the way". or "the sect called the way".

i think the literal meaning of the greek word for christian is fine. it means follower of christ. however, this term has come to mean something far different. personally, though i am a gentile believer, i am pretty ashamed of many "christians". i dont want to have other people associate Christ with them.

will i hang out with such "christians", of course. but it doesnt mean that "christian" is a good label we should be using in this current age where it holds no meaning any longer. you see, words are important. and labels can be very detrimental. maybe we shouldnt worry about what we call ourselves and worry more about how we live our lives.

may we let our light so shine before men that they see our good works and praise our father in heaven.

I cannot help but be reminded of the Judaisers (spelling?) that Paul warned about.

I don't know.

Interesting, though.

I am Jewish by birth and born-again by faith. I was ordained as a Christian church pastor many years before I was ordained as a Messianic rabbi.

While I have heard from other Messianic rabbis who try to inhibit Christians from joining their congregations, we do not do such at the Living Temple Synagogue (a.k.a. LITES Ministries). However, we do teach the Jewishness of the faith, that the Church is actually 3500 years old, having been birthed as a part of the mixed multitude of the children of Israel (Exod. 12:38), and that the Covenant Promises of the ALMIGHTY are eternal. We teach that all people need to repent of our transgressions of the Law (1 Jn. 3:4) and observe the Law by faith (Rom. 2:13; 6:1-8,14-16; Eph. 2:8-10; Jam. 2:12-26; 1 Jn. 2:3-6; 3:4-10; 5:2-3), because there is one TORAH for both the Jew and the Gentile (Num. 15:15-16, 29-31); and HIS Name is Yeshua (John 1:1, 14): the TORAH became Flesh.
