"...if anyone makes the assistance of grace depend on the humility or obedience of man and does not agree that it is a gift of grace itself that we are obedient and humble, he contradicts the Apostle who says, "What have you that you did not receive?" (1 Cor. 4:7), and, "But by the grace of God I am what I am" (1 Cor. 15:10). (Council of Orange: Canon 6)

We are a community of confessing believers who love the gospel of Jesus Christ, affirm the Biblical and Christ-exalting truths of the Reformation such as the five solas, the doctrines of grace, monergistic regeneration, and the redemptive historical approach to interpreting the Scriptures.

    A Retraction

Earlier today I posted a youtube video here which projected the rise of Islam across the world, especially in Europe. In researching the matter further, I have determined that much of the content of the video cannot be verified, or worse, actually contained false statements. I really should have done much more research before posting the video and therefore wish to sincerely apologize to our readers for not doing so. I have removed the initial post without even a moment's hesitation as I do not wish to perpetuate falsehood of any kind. Here's an article from the BBC which outlines some of the errors. The internet is a great tool of communication but not always that of a factual nature. Lesson learned - hopefully. - JS

    John,

someone emailed that video to me too, recently. At first my emotions got the best of me. Fear rose up within my soul.

Then this thought came to go back and read God's Words to Abraham:

Gen 15:4 And behold, the word of the LORD came to him: "This man shall not be your heir; your very own son shall be your heir."
Gen 15:5 And he brought him outside and said, "Look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you are able to number them." Then he said to him, "So shall your offspring be."
Gen 15:6 And he believed the LORD, and he counted it to him as righteousness.

What struck me most was this fear remains, even as I type this.

What strikes me as so comforting though is that portion of verse 5:

"....And he brought him outside and said,....".

Oh yeah, He, Jesus, Our Shepherd, "brought Abraham outside and said".

Oh yeah, He still is God, Self-Existent and one third of the HOLY TRIUNE!

I can attest to the fact that my flesh is weak and His Spirit of Grace is strong!

I can also attest to the fact that no matter what my flesh is doing God's Word remains unchanging:::>

2Co 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,
2Co 1:4 who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

Indeed we all find comfort in the Scriptures, knowing that God is sovereign over all kingdoms on earth. That every matter under heaven is under his control, working everything to the culmination of His grand and glorious purpose. His dominion is from generation to generation. And regardless of how each earthly nation's demography changes over the years,we continue to preach the Gospel at the grassroot level to everyone regardless of race, religion or orientation. Then the eyes of our hearts can always look upward waiting for the glorious return of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Good for you. The stats in the video has been used in at least one sermon that I am aware of. The stats are flase. If they were true I doubt that any change would take place in the way we share the gospel. Fear tactics do not work. Never has.

I check you blog everyday and enjoy reading it. Thank you.

    Blessings, Bill

Thanks for your honesty and integrity in taking down the video and its mis-information.

    And...

We need to proclaim the Gospel now more than ever even no matter who fudges the stats.

Those stats may be exaggerated but let's face it there certainly is no surplus of folks going to the muslims of Europe with the Gospel. Bill Bathman, a long time missionary who ministered to the church in communist eastern bloc countries for forty years has described radical islam as a greater threat than communism to the church. as he said, if Christians do not step into the breach to bring the Gospel your children will have the boot of islam on their necks. I don't think he exaggerates. Furthermore, a man who endured torture from secrte police in an islamist state for preaching the Gospel and baptising muslim converts suggested this video to me. I think he's well aware of this threat and of the church's apathy toward it. One of the best things I can suggest is contact White Horse Inn and get a 2 CD length interview Mike Horton does with a former muslim who resides in the UK. Far more in depth and more educational than this video it'll certainly open your eyes to what is going on. He cites ONE madras alone in Pakistan which has sent 1,000 muslims missionaries into the NYC area alone Thanks!
